Hi all – I can not wait for this great weekend! I have reservations to stay at a condo which is 1.35 miles from the fest – looks like a shuttle stop on either side of where we're staying. This doesn't seem that far – to walk – maybe 15, 20 minutes tops to the festival. Can I get some pros and cons on the shuttle – just seems like a lot of money when I've got 4 to pay for! Is it a safe walk?

That's an easy walk, all level ground. I can't really speak to the safety though, I wouldn't think you would have a problem.

One thing to consider. The main stages are pretty far apart and they're on the beach. That means lots of walking on shifting sand. 1st day of that ain't bad. 2nd and 3rd day you'll be sore as all get out. You'll feel it in your calves the morning after the 1st day. First year we walked to/from the condo (3/4 mile) which wasn't bad, but the 2nd and 3rd days were drudgery. A better plan, which we did last year was biking to/from Hangout fest and walking only inside the grounds. Your mileage may vary.

Hey, did you have any trouble trying to chain up your bike at the fest? I've heard that they run out of places for bikes and the bikes get piled up pretty bad.
Did you experience this?

No, but we typically got there soon after they opened each day and at that time there were few bikes on the racks.

I attended the festival back in 2010 and I was wondering if the shuttle service has improved since then? It was pretty lame the first year of festival. No info on when shuttle would arrive and they were always late. So the shuttle was a waste of money. Some areas also charged for parking at bus stops…

@Jifleisc
2011's shuttles were not the most efficient. They were fairly disorganized and lots of people were left waiting for a loooong time (especially after the big shows).
However, they seem to have understood the shortcomings and have given every indication that they are trying to improve the service. (Doubling the price from $20 to $40 should help too I hope.)

OP, if you're that close, I would suggest biking. However, for the ones out dang near the Florabama, please save yourself a DUI and take the shuttle.
I'm staying 3 blocks from the festival, so I'm walking.

Let me assure you it will not be better. We bought a 3 bedroom condo travel package with 4 VIP tickets (only option for 4) – $5139.00. Then we purchased 2 additional VIP tickets (as my 15yo daughter and 61 yo mother are attending…she paid for it as a gift to my sister and I and our families). I inquired to CID about the shuttle tickets and did we need to purchase 2 additional tickets.
Not only did they say yes, but that the "2 additional people" would have to ride on another shuttle and they would be happy to find us a line to choose from.
Are you kidding me?? We spent $6700.00 and they are going to make 2 of us get in a car and ride to a shuttle location. I wouldn't have minded (well, irritated but would have done it) to pay $80.00 for a shuttle service that they should throw in for $840 VIP pass …but the complete "sorry and we don't give a #$# about your situation" is more than I can take. No offer to talk to the hotel, no offer to provide free shuttle tickets for the inconvience, no offer to assure we could get passes from the hotel – but it would still cost $80.00…nothing. It was "sorry for the inconvenience".
I paid $40.00 last year and stood in line with my 3 year old for over 2.5 hours in the choas while people who purchased no passes continued to get on. No refund, no apology (and I did submit feedback when we got home).
I am a festival lover and I have never, never, seen promoters treat there customers in this manner. I am so disappointed and I am not sure how to proceed from here.
Best part -there is no way to actually talk to someone. I can find no phone number for Hangout staff/management and the CID shuttle people have a number listed that is out of service. Really??!
Any suggestions??

In order to address an issue it needs to make sense. I can't quite grasp the issue here?
You do need to buy shuttle passes for each individual.
Are you staying at two different properties?
To be honest, I can't quite understand the complaint so I am going to summarize. You bought tickets, then you bought two more which required you to buy two more shuttle passes and that's where you totally lost me.
Where does the car come into play?
What resolution are you seeking?
Let me try to help you as I believe eerything you are referencing needs to be address by the right person at CID, not Huka but I need to know what resolution you are seeking.

Yeah, I'm confused as well. Why couldn't a group of six ride the shuttle together? Our group of 5 rode together last year.
