ISLAND RETREAT CAMPING – QUESTION!

UserPost

I have reserved camping at Island Retreat RV camping for this year's festival.

The campground is 2.5 miles from the festival and 1.5 miles from the shuttle pickup at Walmart on the North Shore line.

Has anyone stayed here before?  Is it better to just WALK to the festival? (it says its only a 50 minute walk)

Or is it a good idea to buy the shuttle pass??

Thanks for any information!!

I just booked a spot at the Island retreat, everywhere was either booked out or way too expensive.  A 50 minute walk sounds not too bad.

I'm just about to look into booking a shuttle service.  Could you let me know if how much it costs and if it is worth it, and I will do the same if and when I find out?

Thanks

Jordan

That's very nice of you to offer Kim, and I accept haha.

Have you been to the festival before?

Festival veterans? Two words that are perfectly matched.  Who are you most looking forward to see?

jordan, my girlfriend and i are trecking to the festival just the two of us this year. none of our friends were able to get tickets. you're more than welcome to hangout with us. festivals by yourself just aren't as fun (still a hell of a lot of fun though).

That sounds cool Reid.  I know I'll have a great time either way.

I find it weird there not being a campsite on the festival grounds.  Every festival here in the Uk has one on site, and you just go from tent to tent partying all weekend.  Really cannot wait for this, the line ups are pretty tremendous.

that sounds righteous, sleababy. i'll be the guy crowd surfing at the red hot show.

and yeah that is kind of crazy that there isn't camping. it makes the festival way more expensive, but i haven't been on a beach vacation in a long time, so i sprung for a motel so i can actually sleep good at a festival for once.

but this lineup will be worth every cent, i've wanted to see the chili peppers ever since i was a little kid and i first heard "under the bridge" on the radio. a lot of these other bands i've saw already, but it will still be just as epic.

I would have booked a hotel if I knew I was coming earlier, just glad I found somewhere, and not too far away.

The Chili Peppers are immense live I think, good jams as well.  I saw them twice last year and they were on top form, probably the best I've seen them live since the Hyde Park shows.  Cannot wait for this festival.  On a beach.  Does it get any better.  Also, it'll be good to go to a festival were there is actually sun, haha

you are one lucky dude. i've got one of their live records from hyde park. it is pretty incredible. i used to watch live at slane castle every other time i'd eat shrooms when i was in high school lol. top ten greatest rock performances of all time. but that's just one guy's opinion.

Live at Slane is amazing.  I still listen to it.  I saw them the day after that show in Glasgow.   Fan-fucking-tastic.  That opinion will be shared by many.

I saw them twice last year, and they were shit hot, really on top form.  Their jams were dynamite as well.  They played Hard To Concentrate, which I could not believe.  Josh was tremendous.  I can still picture them on stage…first class

Jordan, well I have seen all the headliners before and some more then once but I really love RHCP. Seen Jack White last year for the first time and did enjoy his freaky self. I really love the show that the Flaming Lips puts on. And love Flogging Molly. So many I cannot wait to see. We just bought Thursday pre-party tix just in case we cannot find something to do we have back up now. Looking forward to meeting many new friends and this is our first time at hang out so newbie for this festival. So we have been stalking forums to see what I can get away with and not. LOL

The RHCP are the reason I am coming.  All time favourite band.  You seen Jack White last year?  solo?  He is another favourite of mine, seen him a few times, with the White Stripes and Raconteurs and Dead weather.  I haven't seen DMB before, really looking forward to their show, heard a lot of good things about their live performance.

I was going to get tickets for Thursday, but I tihnk I'll just explore as it will be my first time in the U.S  Although when I say explore, I mean bars, haha.

Yes seen Jack White solo. Was actually pretty good. I like his other bands too so I wasn't too surprised I liked him. Seen DMB twice and they are just great music. Seen all the bigger names at one time or another but the line up is great so that is why we decided to go. Also the timing was good for our schedules. Wanted to go to Bonaroo too but too many festivals (road trips) so close together. Uggg can't do. We we had to pay premium for our tickets since when they were on sale we didn't have the money so a little costly for tickets for us. But I know it will be worth every penny. I love the beach and only live 45 min. from New Smyrna Beach which is close to Daytona Beach which you may have heard about. If were not at concerts we are at the beach or camping.

First time in US wow! Your sure coming over with a bang. Well I have yet to go to Europe but hopefully one day before I get too old to enjoy it.

Well we are really cool 40 year old peeps that know how to party and super laid back and ready to chill and meet new friends. Sure hope to meet you when we all get there. As the count down continues.

I am from MI and we have Electric Forest here. Never went. I would much rather hang with the hospitable southerners with their jam bands and beach! This is my 2nd Hangout and I am super excited. I am staying with a group but am planning on venturing off on my own this time so I can hear more bands. Camping rocks but I am condo snob this time. Have fun in your tent under the stars!

Aw, I am jealous, I think he will be amazing solo.  The stuff I've heard so far I really like.

I'm pretty disappointed with the festivals here this year, RHCP aren't headlining any of them, and I don't fancy any of the bands that are playing, except New Order, but am seeing them in May.

I missed out on general tickets as well, so had to buy one from Stubhub, for double the price, but am not bothered as it is money very well spent.  I am having it sent to the RV park as they can't send tickets overseas.

I have heard of Daytona Beach.  You are very lucky you have the weather for the beach.  I live near a beach, but as you may know, Scotland isn't the warmest of climates, you freeze your arse off if you dare go near it, lol.

I am looking forward to meeting a few folk and partying.

Least you can have a shower in a condo Sleababy.

Jordan, you will be able to shower at the park. Most RV parks come with shower accommodations in the restroom areas. No stinky people allowed while camping. LOL
