This is my first festival and I don't want to be under-prepared. Is there anything that I should take into the festival? Like a water container or anything? Suggestions please! Thank you. :)

Hey Katie,  I think I saw elsewhere that you're in the 'boro.  Me too.  You are definetly going to want to bring in something for water.  If you have a camelback that would be good, or you can always buy one bottle of water in there and refill it, but you'll be refilling alot.  Sun screan.  There's very limited shade so you'll be in the sun all day.  Lots of $$ if you plan to eat or drink.  If you don't like to sit on sand, maybe bring in a towel or something to sit on.

Don't bring in the drugs.  Other fests maybe, not this one.  Wouldn't be prudent.  :)

Katie,

Seeing as this is your first festival I would err on the side of being over prepared.  For sure bring in some sort of refillable water bottle, lots of sunscreen, maybe a towel, just remember that you'll be lugging around anything you bring in all day long.

As for the drug thing, I don't think that's a smart conversion to have right here in public on their official message boards.  Just be smart, this fest is on a public beach and the police are there in force.  Use common sense.

Just relax, have fun, sing and dance. SmileSmile

Man I'm just going by what I've seen posted on alot of different boards about the undercover cop situation.  And the reasons don'tburnthepig said.  Plus at other festivals, i.e. Roo, if the cops started trying to bust ALL the drugs they would have a riot, plus I know Williamson County, they just don't have that manpower to cover 100's of acres.  At Hangout you're confined to a couple of city blocks with baricades….no where to run if you get caught.

And silly of me, I thought I was going to a music festival for the music.  Here I've been doing it wrong all these years.Laugh

Going for the music Pan, its just a time to let loose and do other things you normally wouldn't. The drug comment was a joke don't take it all too seriously. None of would've paid $240 to go pay more money to stay somewhere we can spend more money on drugs and do them at. Pretty sure we're all going for the music.

Kate, add condoms to your list.

BAHAHAH. Condoms: The new phone protector. :P Love it. Thank you guys so much!! Yeah, I heard they are a lot more stricter about the drug thing there. I know Bonnaroo is pretty chill about it. They know it's gonna happen, they're not hurting anyone, whatever! Haha. But it's understandable. Their city, blah blah blah. But I'm just stoked to be in the atmosphere and hear the amazing music!! XD

Yeah, I was just trying to see what I should take in, cus I'd be having to carry it around all day. :P

Asprin as well, Tylenol and Advil are rough on your system while drinking.  Eat a big breakfast…lol.

I'm planning on bring a camelbak for sure, and probably one of those covers they give you after running a marathon to stuff in the camelbak if I want to sit down somewhere not on sand. It's super thin and folds up small. If I want to chunk it, I can. Not sure where you would find one though – I just kept one after my last race.

Yeah, I think I'm going to have to invest in a camelback. That sounds like the best thing to do. Haha.

We use these blankets

They are cheap, weigh like nothing and are durable as all hells.

But I've also seen some people like "Don't bring blankets. It's annoying and I will step all over it."

Yeah, and it is annoying….but if you get away from the crowd to sit down, I think that would be fine. Just don't plot it down in the the middle of a crowd. You will get stepped on and cussed.

Yeah, just be courteous.  If you set up in the middle of a crowd then expect to be stepped all over.  People have every right to bring some blankets and relax, I just get really annoyed when they try to claim a spot closer to a stage and then get pissed when people don't respect the blanket…lol.

Last year i carried my Osprey day pack with a hydration bladder. I filled the bladder with ice and may have gotten lucky that they never told me to dump it on my way through the line. It was nice and cold when I was ready for a drink. My pack held my small camera and cellphone and t-shirt to sit on. I did not bring a blanket! They are super annoying come headliner time. Especially near the front of the stages.  I NEVER brought in treats. I imbibed in private.  I'm a minimalist festival go-er and like to be safe.
