I can answer to a lot of this holmes…
"
The shuttles, last year people had complaints about shuttle times so this year CID is handling them. In order to make the service what people want it to be they have to sell some tickets so they do remind people via FB, etc. They have been giving away some sweet packages though so I hope you're not to rubbed by that.
The slotting is kind of a B**** because of tour routing, logical timingm etc. The amount of thought time and effort tha goes into trying to make a schedule that will conflict as little as possible for each individual is a task that Huka takes very seriously. So releasing the schedule is dependant, a lot of the time on deep thought, band managers and other outside forces.
I wouldn't give up on adds/surprises. ;)
The site is expanded, all the services people wanted expanded are expanded… as far as I know people have been busting ass to make sure not one complaint from last year goes unaddressed so I hope you and your friends see that in this year's production and dig it.

this is just me but a day here or there on a map and a schedule; I know everyones excited including me but I don't think the stage map is going to make or break the deal for me. They used to hand them to us at bonnarroo as we pulled in. Tru story.

I'm with sink, some people just can't be pleased. For a third year festival the communication has been pretty goodoverall, and it keeps improving. This festival is going to be absolutely amazing, and that is due to a massive amount of work and planning. Props ahead of time to all that worked. I know this fest is gonna be great.

Thanks for that explanation. Like i said I've never thrown one, and all of my feedback was external, being surrounded by other with similar sentiment with what seems to have been a negative feedback loop. Regardless, that kind of communication is what makes things work well. Thank you, and you will see me wasted in Gulf Shores in a few weeks!

One other thing, is that the iCal's are off by 5 hours, which i assume is a correction for GMT or something. No biggie, just thought I'd point it out.

I do have one honest question though,
Why are none of the Thursday acts staggered? I feel like there is enough space to let almost everyone see everyone that day, but instead there is a lot of overlap and dead space.
I heard it suggested that the scheduling is to keep any one stage from being too crowded, but this seems counterintuitive to intentionally make people miss acts.
Any comment?

Thursday is slotted like all the other days but with breaks for people to mingle (It is a pre party after all) and move to the other stage since only two stages are running (sorry, edit). When all stages are running the breaks are not necessary/possible/fun. It is intended to be a slightly more relaxed, mellow affair lacking the need to run from stage to stage… or, you know, thats my understanding.

To run them back to back to back as you suggest is not possible without removing 1/4-1/3 of the acts and then not possible on a single stage (setup, tear down) so we must have two stages and if at that point we ran back to back to back on two stages you would miss parts of sets moving from point a to point b so you would miss half the music anyway and be running. No break slotting is normal when all stages are running because the amount of selection… but with two it would suck.

That makes so much more sense now. Thanks, Kangfirmed!
I have another question, if you don't mind. As a Hangout Veteran, I'm well aware that you can come and go during the festival… your wristband is your ticket. How will that work for the Kick-off? Will we be stamped or something?
I know it is a little off-topic, but it will help me schedule my Thursday.

I am pretty sure there will be preparty old school wristbands issued but don't go quoting me on any internet message boards or anything. I will investigate.
