The 5-star lineup at the Hangout this year has change our crew's thinking of adding a new festival to our belts (Bonnaroo 07-09, Wakarusa 10-11). However one MAJOR concern with Hangout is the setup they have on the beach. Does anyone know the answer to these questions?

Is the land/beach the festival is on public property? I assume the answer to this is yes so…

Does the local law enforcement proactively patrol the beach area inside the gates? If so what is the extent of this?

We're not looking to deal anything rather just partake in the god-given right to smoke the kind while listening to music we payed a lot of money for w/o having to worry about cops trying to bust us thousands of miles away from home. Being that both the Roo and Waka are on private properties and do not have any police presence inside the gates is a major factor in a festival's enjoyment factor. Would like any feedback on this topic from veterans of the Hangout.

Thanks -Jack Cool

Not much in the way of policing going on inside the festival.  I never had/saw an issue last year.  However, a lot of cops waiting outside the gates for people stumbling out looking for trouble.  If your concern is smoking the ganj inside the festival, nothing to worry about.  This festival was awesome last year and I can't wait to make it back to Gulf Shores this year.

It's definitly not as lax as you will see at normal festivals.  I would suggest that you move in to the middle of a crowd whenever you do light up.  Many people were locked up last year when toking on the edges of the crowd.  From what I have heard ,the police were major dicks to the folks who were busted also.  I heard stories of people having to stay in jail from Friday until Monday for a simple possession charge.

It is public property. Police are there, but the only time i saw anything going down was when they broke up a fight. As mentioned i noticed them more outside than inside

I did not see anyone busted last year although i've read stories on here of folks that eveidently did.

I had no isues but i was pertty discreet about what and when i did anything.

I understand your concern but i think it is worth giving a shot. Relaxing on the beach with some good music is a ton of fun.

Thanks for the feedback guys. The public property situation is making us further consider the Roo. -Jack Cool
