Don't get me wrong, he's great. Great musician, I just think they could have pulled a better headliner.

He's not the big name, but I guarantee he'll put on a better show than RHCP. And I love RHCP

Peppers put on a bad show? I've never seen them—was looking forward to it. Why do you think they are bad?

Not at all! I just think people are underestimating the awesomeness JW will be live.

I'm very interested to see how long his set is supposed to be when they announce the daily schedules…here is my theory…if it's a two hour headliner set, he only has one solo album (that hasn't even been released yet)….sooooo, maybe there's a reason he's a headliner, such as a White Stripes reunion or he plays part of the set with the Raconteurs (who played an amazing set at Roo '08). Might be me just wishful thinking, but just another reason to be excited for May.

That would be amazing if it was some sort of White Stripes reunion.

I doubt he'll reunite. He has a new solo album out, which he'll be promoting over the summer.

I agree Jack White is an odd headliner, I would say Wilco or Flaming lips would make more sense. I mean White Stripes are headliner status but I'm not a big fan of "this guy was in a great band but is solo now however we are booking him as a headliner anyways despite a catalog of under 20 songs" way of thinking. At least be an established solo artist, but that's just my opinion.
And RHCP put on a bad show…are you kidding me????
I mean I like Jack White ok but I can say with almost certainty that people will walk away from this fest more pleased with the chilis than with jack white. I've seen almost every band on the bill (besides a few small ones) and Chilis freaking rock…don't know what show you were at…

Jack White's setlist for his first solo show featured songs from White Stripes, raconteurs and The Dead Weather. His performance will be electric, I've seen hi perform with all three bands a few times, and always blown me away.
As for the RHCP, I saw them twice in 2011, and they fucking rocked the place off it's foundations. They played a good mix of old and new. They are the resaon I am coming over to this festival.

It's all about the Red Hot Chili Peppers

i saw a video on youtube of him performing his new album. all pretty girls playing live with him. what a badass. the song were solid. not festival headline material in my opinion; but i'm sure it will be a great show. however, it will probably be friday night during either SCI or Flaming Lips (if i had to guess) and Jack White solo is not cool enough to miss either of those shows.

Woah woah woah, Jack White is insane good. People at hangout know that he's about to rock the shit out of that headliner spot. To fill that time slot though he's going to have to pull songs from his new band The Dead Weather. Their stuff sounds real strong, so I think he'll make for one hell of a headliner

Reid,
If he's a headliner, he'll be the last to play that night and he'll play approx 2 hours or a smidge longer if the last 2 festivals are any indication.

yeah assumed he would be playing last. but there is more than one stage, and if it's anything like the other festivals i've been to, there's always at least another artist playing during that friday headliner slot. this is my first time to hangout, but it just seems logical that on friday night there will be another badass show. i guess we'll see. i'd love to see jack white. i was just saying if that is the case, he will definitely be missed. by the way, the addition of umphrey's mcgee just put this lineup over the top. way better than bonnaroo's lineup additions. although roo has the best fest lineup this year in my opinion. the beach kicks the hell out of roo's dust bowl though.

I don't think they would have anyone playing over his slot, maybe SCI goes right up until he comes on stage.

This will be my 3rd Hangout fest. Unless they've changed the format, the headliner is the main event of each night and there will be no other acts playing during that timeframe.
