Suggestions for improvements…

1) Place restrooms closer to beer tents – or have a walkway dedicated to the path between and to the front.  On the really popular shows, there was a bottleneck making any movement difficult. I envision a walkway along the oceanside fence.

2) Speaking of bottleneck – the Chevy Stage area is really too narrow for some of the major bands.  Suggest opening up the VIP area on the left to GA and building a nice platform for VIP over that area. The would provide shade for GA ticketholders and give the VIP much better viewing.

3) Provide more shade in outlying areas, but still in music range.

4) Move the supply gate further away from the "Letting Go Stage".  There were too many motorized vehicles trying to move through crowded area.

5) For crowds as large as DMB and Peppers, there should be another viewing screen with sound mounted way out.  At least then, everyone could see and hear the headliners.  It would only need to be used on the headliners when other stages aren't active.

These are just my thoughts.  I think the festival went great and very much appreciate the venue improvements over 2011.  Musically, 2011 will always be hard to top, but 2012 still went great!

#4, THIS! Please! It was hard to hear the music over all of the ATVs and people trying to talk over the sound of the ATVs.

#5, My heart went out to all the folks caught beyond the skybar. I was almost certain they couldn't see or hear anything.

2011 was TOO good… as in I missed way too many acts because of scheduling conflicts. I think this one struck a happy balance, IMHO. But, yes, fantastic fest this year!

Wow, the crowd was as far back as the skybar? Thats crazy.  I was pretty close up for all 3 headliners and couldn't really tell how far the crowds went back.  But i agree, more screens and sound for those that far back would be a great idea.

A small suggestion of mine… can we ban flags please? And random things mounted on polls? Almost every show there were people with a flag waving around obstructing the view.

I believe flags were indeed banned, but people found ways to bring them in pieces through security and assemble them once they were inside the gates.

#3 and #5, definitely.

I think it would be cool while if there was no one playing at a stage the video feed from other stages played and possibly some audio. So, the people waiting for the next band to come on have some entertainment. Similar to the live feed on the website, but on the screens (maybe on a loop).

After all, we're paying for the whole weekend's worth of bands, right? It's hard to pick who you want to see with scheduling, etc.

Also, it would be really neat if sprinklers were somehow set up around the audience area. Maybe just a timed, light sprinkle, but it would feel really nice when the sun gets so hot! That way people won't have to waste their drinking water or lose their spot in line to go cool off in the shade somewhere. :)

def need more shade installations. there were some shade installations along the beach near the skybar and the hammocks but too far away from the stages to hear the music. also, until 5pm the sun was scorching hot, keeping me far from the main stages. if there were more shade installations close to the main stages, and more centered it would provide comfort and safety.

Agree completely with sound. The further back in the crowd you got you couldn't hear anything but people talking which is really annoying. Who goes to a music festival to talk through all the shows? So more speakers further out for sure. Also the speakers at the chevrolet stage were to small. I felt like the hangout stage was much louder for big crowds. It was almost impossible to hear the flaming lips from deep in the crowd in 2012. It was also that same way with the black keys and flaming lips in 2011. Please address that. One last thing, I am sure yall got killer footage and stuff, but is their anyway to not have helicopters flying over during the headliners. Maybe if you the speaker issue was addressed it wouldn't matter but that was a huge buzz kill for me.

AB2490 – great suggestions about showing the other stages on the Hangout and Chevy video screens when there are no bands performing.  I think it is not so much about having entertainment but that it would be great to see the other bands perform (who we did pay to see as you put it).  I missed a lot of the bands I wanted to see, either part of their show or its entirety, due to traveling from one stage to the next, traveling to kingdom come to go potty, traveling to get food / water / beer.

Misters with fans would also be fantastic!

Glenn – designated walkways to the bathrooms would be GREAT, especially if they installed boards to walk on.  Unfortunately, I see people abusing this.  How would you "police" it?  You get a bathroom key Laugh  Not sure how to handle it, but it is a good suggestion.

*Please install zip lines you can pay for to hurl you from the bathrooms near the beach-side by the Hangout and Chevy stages to the front gate / boardwalk area!!  Laugh  Ski lifts of some sort would work too.  That is a miserable walk after the last show after dredging in the sand all day.  I would easily pay 10-20 bucks to zip up to the front gate!

***More than anything – PLEASE continue to improve the transportation out of the festival at night.

PLEASE have fleets of cabs waiting for us to skip the 2 hour shuttle line if we choose to pay for a cab and not take our already paid for shuttle.  Make it more Disney-like – they have great transportation services to move people to and from QUICKLY.  We missed a paid for after hours show due to the wait!

PLEASE do not allow empty buses to go through without filling if their "line" does not have any travelers.  FILL ALL BUSES and REROUTE them to the busy lines.

Overall, our group enjoyed the festival beyond belief.  Thanks for all of the improvements you all made from the previous years.  I hope to see some of our suggestions incorporated into next year's festival!!  Wink
